Intentions vs. Resolutions

I don’t set New Year’s Resolutions!

Knowing that I am a coach, that statement may surprise you??

I always assumed that setting New Years Resolutions would motivate me but it actually did the opposite. The goals I set were too confining, rigid and didn’t allow for flexibility.

A few years ago I started setting New Years Intentions instead. I journal about my vision for what would make the new year a fabulous year for me. 🤩

I ask myself questions to help guide me developing my Intentions. My intentions are focused on the aspects of my life that make me feel complete.

A few of the questions I ask myself:

  • What does success look like for me?

  • What do I want to learn or explore?

  • What are the things I want for myself and my life in the coming year?

  • Who are people that I want to connect with?

  • What are things that I can focus on when I’m feeling overwhelmed?

  • What are the things that give me purpose?

  • Who are people that bring out the best in me?

What question(s) would help you with your intentions for this year?
